While this set of stamps was an assigned project, the original concept behind them is a much more interesting story.

Once upon a time, there was a TV show called Wonderfalls. It was a very good show, but unfortunately it wasn't mainstream enough for the network to keep it on. A bunch of loyal fans from all over the world met up on a message board and took it upon themselves to do some guerilla marketing for the DVD release.

This particular idea was derived from the film Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain. The title character steals her father's garden gnome and anonymously sends him pictures of it in foreign countries - all in an effort to get her father to get out and see the world.

I substituted the gnome for a the little smooshed-face wax lion that has become a hallmark of Wonderfalls. By doing this, I hoped that people who saw these images would be intrigued and more likely to look up what it was all about.

And it worked. I had the Polaroid design put on t-shirts and it gets people asking "what is Wonderfalls anyway?"
